Let’s catch up! February may be the shortest month of the year, but behind the scenes at Kit and Kaboodal it’s been anything but quiet. As Buying Director, this is one of my favourite times of year - winter is winding down, fresh ideas are flowing, and we’re fully focused on bringing you beautiful new pieces for spring and beyond!

I wanted to share a little look at what’s been happening behind the scenes this month, from new deliveries and colour planning to photoshoots, filming and even some exciting long-term strategy work for the future.

Spring Has Officially Arrived (in the Warehouse!)

One of the biggest highlights this month has been the arrival of our new spring stock. There’s always a special kind of excitement when those first deliveries land - seeing designs that began as sketches and fabric swatches finally arrive as finished garments never gets old.

Our spring collection is all about easy layers, relaxed silhouettes and pieces that feel comfortable, versatile and effortlessly stylish. We’ve focused on breathable fabrics, wearable shapes and those little details that make our clothing feel special.

Once the deliveries arrive, the team works quickly to check quality, organise stock and get everything ready for launch. It’s a busy time, but there’s a real buzz across the warehouse and office when new season pieces start coming in.

If you’ve spotted fresh styles appearing online recently, this is why - February is when spring truly begins for us.

Signing Off Spring Colours for the Months Ahead

While this season’s stock is arriving, we’re already looking ahead to what’s coming next.

A big part of my role this month has been reviewing and signing off new spring colour palettes and garment samples that will soon go into production. Colour is such an important part of what we do at Kit and Kaboodal. Our customers love wearable tones that mix easily with their existing wardrobe, but we also like to introduce fresh seasonal shades to keep things exciting.

This spring, we’ve been working with a beautiful mix of:

  • Soft pastels
  • Natural neutrals
  • Fresh greens and blues
  • A few brighter accents for a lift of colour

Each sample goes through careful checks for fabric quality, fit, drape and finish before we approve it for production. It’s a detailed process, but it ensures that when a piece reaches you, it meets the standards you expect from us.

A Little Love: Valentine’s Campaign Shoot

February also meant it was time for our Valentine’s campaign, and that meant a day in the studio with Julie.

Working with Julie is always a pleasure. She brings so much warmth and personality to every shoot, and this campaign was all about celebrating confidence, comfort and feeling good in what you wear.

The studio was full of soft lighting, romantic touches and some gorgeous outfits styled to reflect the feel-good spirit of the season. These campaign days take a lot of planning, but they’re always fun and collaborative, with the styling, photography and marketing teams all working together to bring the vision to life.

If you saw our Valentine’s content, you were seeing the result of a full day of creativity behind the scenes.

Lights, Camera… Buying Director!

It wasn’t just Julie in front of the camera this month, I also spent some time filming in the studio.

We know how much our customers enjoy seeing the pieces worn and talked about in real life, so I’ve been recording videos to share styling ideas, fabric details and a closer look at new arrivals.

Filming always feels a little outside my comfort zone compared to working with fabrics and samples, but it’s a lovely way to connect directly with you and share the thinking behind the collections. I hope the videos help you feel more confident about sizing, styling and how the pieces move and feel.

Taking Things Outdoors

Another exciting development this month has been the start of our outdoor photoshoots.

As the days slowly become brighter, it felt like the perfect time to move beyond the studio and capture our spring pieces in natural settings. Once again, Julie joined us as we began shooting outside, bringing our clothing to life in fresh air and real environments.

Outdoor shoots add a completely different feel - softer light, movement and a more relaxed lifestyle look that really suits our brand. Of course, shooting outdoors in February in the UK comes with its challenges (layers and hot drinks were essential!), but the results are always worth it.

You’ll start to see more of this natural, seasonal imagery appearing across our website and social channels over the coming weeks.

Looking Ahead: Planning for 2026

While much of February has been focused on the present season, we also took time to look much further ahead.

This month we held a strategy day to start shaping what 2026 will look like for Kit and Kaboodal. These sessions are incredibly important, they give us space to step back from the day-to-day and think about the bigger picture.

We discussed:

  • Future collection direction
  • Fabric innovation and sustainability goals
  • Customer feedback and shopping habits
  • Growth opportunities and new ideas

As a buying team, it’s exciting to think about how the brand can evolve while staying true to what our customers love - comfortable, flattering clothing that works for real life.

It might seem early to be talking about 2026, but in fashion, planning ahead is essential to ensure we continue delivering quality, consistency and thoughtful design.

A Month of Momentum

Looking back, February has been a month of real momentum:

  • New season stock arriving
  • Future colours and designs approved
  • Studio filming and campaign shoots
  • Outdoor photography beginning
  • Long-term planning underway

It’s a busy mix of creativity, logistics and forward thinking, and it’s all driven by one goal: making sure every collection feels fresh, wearable and truly worth adding to your wardrobe.

Thank You for Being Part of the Journey

One thing we always keep front of mind during these busy months is you, our customers. Your feedback, comments and support shape so many of the decisions we make, from colour choices to fabric preferences.

I hope this little behind-the-scenes update gives you a glimpse into the care and planning that goes into each piece before it reaches you.

Spring is just getting started, and there’s so much more to come
